WHAT IS CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY AND WHY IS IT GOOD FOR BABIES AND CHILDREN?

Craniosacral (CS) therapy is an offshoot of Osteopathy.  It is a method whereby the structure of the spinal column and skull are seen and felt to be moving from within, in accordance with a pulsing rhythm.  Inside our skull and spinal column is the space where our brain and nervous system reside and do their work. As we all know this nervous system is the bio-computer that regulates the workings of the whole body, furthermore it is the seat of our social and highest intelligence.

The delivery process is a very arduous experience for a baby's body to go through, whether it is a natural delivery or a cesarean delivery.  The baby is either squeezed to fit through a small passage (temporarily displacing the usual lineup of spinal and skull bones), or is lifted out without the ignition benefits of the natural compression of a vaginal birth.

Depriving the baby of these ignitions prevents the full deployment of much needed energies which regulate breathing, digestion, the hormone production processes, etc.   Either way, stress zones are bound to be there and need to be released to have a baby who is an open conduit for energy flow.  Our therapy seeks to give the baby that internal freedom and as much space as possible within its skull and spinal column, and by doing so attains the maximum brain and nervous system function.
